Caregiver Stories
Julia Cardenas
RN, 3M
I started at Midwest Regional in 1988 as a tech in the cardiology department. For eight years I worked as a charge nurse with patients who have undergone an angioplasty or arteriogram, and now I am a staff nurse on both the CCU and ICU floors. Without a doubt, I’ve grown with this hospital and the program over the past 22 years.
The cardiology program at Midwest is truly unique. Our staff makes a conscious effort to always be available to our patients and provide them with as much pre and post-op teaching as possible. Whether it’s cardiac rehab or dietary education, our staff offers an all-inclusive approach to cardiac treatment.
I have always loved that Midwest was big enough to care for you, but small enough to care about you. Employees have been at Midwest for decades – it is a very family-friendly environment with a great level of trust within our department as well as the auxiliary departments.
It is so rewarding to help cardiac patients get through their heart problems – and know that you’ve played a role in their survival.
